The electrolyte in these batteries is absorbed by glassfiber mat separators between the battery plates, which means that the battery cannot leak in normal usage. Even if the battery is accidentally dropped and the casing sustaining damage, the battery cannot leak as the electrolyte is entirely enclosed within the glassfiber mat separators. This type of battery can even be shipped by airfreight, and the new line replaces the previous range of VETUS AGM batteries.
